About David Ekland, M.D.
I was the first surgeon to join Dr. Kenevan when The Avalon Clinic was established. We both founded The Avalon Clinic in 1995 and have known each other for over 31 years. The dream we had then and continue to have today is to change lives and build confidence through cosmetic surgery. I have over 20 years of experience in plastic surgery and performed over 6500 cosmetic procedures.
I reside in Spanaway on a small farm with my wife of 40 years. Here at Avalon I am known as the "Cowboy doctor". I am soft spoken and quiet. In my spare time I enjoy building things, gardening and spending time on my farm. I can also make an awesome apple pie!
I obtained an Undergraduate degree from the University of Washington.
I continued my studies locally by attending Medical School at the University of Washington.
I completed an Internship at Virginia Mason Hospital, in Seattle, Washington.
I later completed a Plastic Surgery Residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington D.C.
I am Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS).
I performed General Surgery Training at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas.
I am a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) and the Northwest Society of Plastic Surgeons.
